Finishing your presentation strong – how to leave people wanting more

How you wrap up a presentation can be a strong influence on audience attitude and understanding. Memorable closings make a big difference.preso

There are tons of articles and ideas about the best ways to open and deliver great presentations.

While it is important to engage your audience and capture attention at the beginning, what you do at the end can make all the difference in your presentation’s overall impact and success.

First, be sure to take questions at the end of your presentation if the moment allows, but then finish with a closing that really leaves an impression. Here’s how.

1. Use a quote that your audience will remember after they’ve left the room. It should be specific to your content, but loosely related motivational quotes work well, too. Inspire change, promote problem-solving, and positively reinforce good ideas and behavior.

2. Encourage action among your attendees. Good examples here might be “Join the Conversation”; “Help Someone Today”;  or “Just Do It”

3. Tell a story that moves people and ties back to your presentation points. Stay away from facts and figures, but rather, focus on human aspects that evoke empathy and emotion.

The final words of your presentation are the last ones that your audience will hear and remember. Make sure they count. And that’s the key to finishing your presentation strong.

Have a great week.
